Regulators

Regulators

The diving regulator was designed by Emile Gagnan and Jaques Cousteau and this single invention was really the start of modern day Scuba Diving. It consists of 2 parts, the first stage pressure reduction valve and the second stage demand valve. The two sections are connected by an intermediate hose. There are many types of regulator and while some are as basic as the original made by Cousteau all those years ago, other are now extremely technical pieces of equipment costing several hundreds of pounds. Masks

Masks

We are not meant to see underwater. Opening your eyes under the water in a pool or the sea and you are greeted by blurred images. The reason is that our eyes are designed to work in an air environment - they simply cannot focus in water. In order to be able to see we need to place a layer of air between our eyes and the water, and this is what the mask does for us. The design of masks has moved on considerably over the years and there are many types available on the market. However, in spite of all the choices, the most important factors are still fit and comfort. To find out about the various choices and how to decide which mask is right for you contact our dive centre. An information sheet will be available soon
